http://summeronwinterlane.com/page/19/?option=com_fabrik Jason Momoa aka The Aquaman has been the new hot property in Tinseltown since the trailer for Justice League came out. His rugged look and tattooed muscular physique has been one of the most trending topics since the movie hit the screens and people are curious to know what exactly he did and how they can have a body like that. So, my6abs.com will spill the beans and help you decode this amazing transformation.
Jason Momoa has been in Hollywood for a while now and he has been showcasing a good physique since his Baywatch days and thereafter with every new Avatar of his, has been a muscular display, be it playing Khal Drogo in Game Of Thrones or leading the screenplay in Conan the Barbarian. So he is someone who is not new to bodybuilding and healthy diets and today we will go in depth to find out as to what helped him achieve the supernatural body worthy of being the Aquaman.
Jason Momoa diet:
The wildman that you see on-screen with Aquaman, Jason tends to live his life the same way off-screen too. Even though he followed a strict diet routine of healthy foods but since he is fond of beer and couldn’t keep himself away for long, he made it a point to have one Guinness at the end of the day to fulfill the cravings and keep him sane enough to keep pushing hard while training. He didn’t follow the standard 5-6 meals with evened out ingredients, instead he had this simple theory: Eat as much lean meat and veggies as possible, Lift heavy weights and save the calories for Guinness.
Even though, we at my6abs.com don’t recommend this approach, especially for beginners because you have to keep this fact in consideration that some people are genetically gifted, different body types react differently to certain food items even if those are unhealthy. Moreover, Jason Momoa is a seasoned actor looking after his physique for years so trying to mimic his lifestyle may not be a good idea.
But you can always experiment to see what suits your goals and body type and if something keeps you sane and help you adhere to your goals in the long run, follow that routine.
The Aquaman Workout:
Jason trained with super-hero trainer Mark Twight and followed the Gym Jones method with a focus to gain as much functional strength as possible while putting on serious muscle mass, the workout approach was to do exercises that were full-body movements in order to mimic what a superhero would do so as to get him accustomed to the stunt-shoots as well.
He focused on a lot of burpees and rope exercises to keep the cardio sessions intense and fruitful and made it a point to do cardio almost everyday after weight training sessions.
His well rounded shoulders have been the highlight of his physique and make him look even more shredded, for which he focused on heavy pressing movements like military presses, dumbbell overhead presses and various varieties of push ups to keep the overload going.
Jason stresses many times that he focuses more on whole body or compound exercises thus hardly isolated his arm training. Instead he credits his rock climbing sessions and heavy-weighted pull ups to help him build those guns and we can safely say that it worked out pretty well for him!! Needless to say that it gave him a chiseled back as well with all those rock climbing and pull ups.
One handed overhead pull downs have been his absolute favorite as it mimics rock climbing muscle engagement and made him become more functional at it.
Building those Legs:
To support a bulky super-hero torso, one needs to have a solid base with muscular yet functional legs and Jason followed this approach wholeheartedly, so apart from the compound exercises his leg routine had huge sets of deadlifts, squats, box jumps to keep the workout intense yet functional.
Core at the core of everything: Jason Momoa is not your traditional lifter to spread out his week to target different muscle groups so Mark made him do exercises that put a whole lot of stress on the core to keep the body balanced and function properly so Jason didn’t have to go through the crunches and planks, instead he had his indirect core workout throughout his training sessions.
So there you have it folks, definitely not a traditional approach towards bodybuilding but as we say all the time, find out what motivates you and once you have the reason, you will always find the correct path.
Feel free to try and experiment with Arthur Curry’s methods and if it suits you, keep going!!!
